Brand architecture
The Fort Institute is the mother brand. Sub-brands are endorsed: they share the shield and the Crimson Text and General Sans lock-up, and change only the device inside the shield. Programmes such as FLDC and The Well are not sub-brands: they carry the TFI logo with their name typeset beside it.
Sub-brand rules
Six rules keep the family together.
Keep the shield
Only the device inside the shield changes.
Keep the lock-up
Crimson Text name + General Sans descriptor.
Red is always present
Fort Red appears on every sub-brand piece: logo, signal or call to action.
One major colour
Each sub-brand pairs one colour with red. Never two sub-brand colours together.
The mother leads
When TFI and a sub-brand appear together, TFI comes first or larger.
No new emblems
Programmes without a logo use the TFI logo with a typeset name.
The sub-brands
Each sub-brand on its own dark ground, with its main colour, its light tint and the Fort Red signal. Pick one.
Building Outstanding Leaders & Teams
Leadership accelerator for secondary schools and campuses: BOLT Junior, BOLT Campus and the Summer Leadership Camp. Groups are called Circles.
Orange + red. Text on orange is always Ember, never white.

The Fort Centre for Leadership and Innovation Research
TFI’s research and publishing hub: an African-led body of knowledge on leadership, institutions and change.
Blue + red. The emblem sits in Fort Red on Navy.
Democratising access to opportunities for Africans
Curates jobs, scholarships, fellowships and grants for Fortifiers and young Africans. Signs off: Stay ready. Stay prepared. Stay growing.
Purple + red. The red mark on Violet Night is the signature.

Celebrating leadership. Honouring leaders.
The annual flagship weekend: The Fort Leadership Summit and The Fort Awards & Dinner Night.
Mother palette, plus Fort Glow for event key visuals.

The official newsletter of The Fort Institute
A weekly letter to 20,000+ readers. Opens “Dear Leader,” and signs off “Yours in leadership.”
Mother palette. Light mode for reading.

Programmes without logos
FLDC, SoLD, The Well, Boundless, Fort Fest and FORTIFIED are programmes, not sub-brands, so they don’t get emblems or their own colours. They use the TFI horizontal logo with the programme name typeset beside it in General Sans Medium, in sentence case.
